The research group of Prof. Lukas Sommer together with researchers from ETH recently published their findings in Nature Communications:
Although there have long been indications that tissue innervation is important for optimal wound healing, the reason behind remained unclear. The researchers were now able to show that peripheral nerve cells play a central role in this healing process.
This research came about as part of a joint project carried out in the context of Skintegrity, a University Medicine Zurich flagship project.
