Research at the Institute of Anatomy

Research at the Institute of Anatomy centers on "Tissue Plasticity in Health and Disease"; how cells and tissues develop, adapt, and regenerate across the lifespan, and how these processes contribute to human pathology.

Our six research groups address these questions from complementary perspectives combining molecular, cellular, and organismal perspectives with advanced imaging and multi-omics technologies. The groups share a modern research infrastructure and collaborate actively within national and international research programs. Close ties with the Centre for Microscopy and Image Analysis, the Cytometry Facility, and the Electrophysiology Facility of the UZH ensure access to cutting-edge technologies.

Together, these efforts bridge fundamental discovery and clinical translation, aiming to uncover disease mechanisms and develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
