ETH Grant for Prof. Soeren Lienkamp to investigate renal injury in metabolic disease

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Soeren Lienkamp has been awarded an ETH Grant to support a new doctoral research project entitled “Profiling renal injury signatures of metabolic disease in Xenopus tropicalis.”

The project will use Xenopus tropicalis to investigate how inherited metabolic diseases cause kidney injury. By combining CRISPR-generated disease models, quantitative metabolomics and live imaging of fluorescent cellular sensors, the team will examine which mechanisms drive renal damage. The approach will also help resolve how these injury mechanisms develop over time and establish a platform for future high-throughput drug screening.

ETH Grants provide competitive funding for innovative research projects and, in particular, support outstanding doctoral projects with the potential to open new research directions.

We look forward to seeing this research develop.
