Prof. Dr. Lukas Sommer elected to the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Dr. Lukas Sommer has been elected as a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina is one of the world’s oldest academy of natural sciences and medicine. With its selective election process, membership is regarded as one of the highest honors in the scientific community. The Academy unites outstanding researchers from all disciplines and plays an important advisory role for politics and society.

Prof. Sommer is internationally recognized for his research on neural crest stem cells and their roles in development, regeneration, and disease, particularly in melanoma biology. His election to the Leopoldina honors both his scientific achievements and his commitment to advancing biomedical research.
