Prof. Johannes Loffing selected for 2026 Hans H. Ussing Award Lecture
Prof. Johannes Loffing has been selected by the Epithelial Transport Group of the American Physiological Society (APS) to deliver the 2026 Hans H. Ussing Award Lecture at the American Physiology Summit.
The Hans H. Ussing Award recognizes researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of epithelial transport. Named after the Danish physiologist Hans H. Ussing (1911–2000), the award honours his pioneering work on ion transport across epithelial membranes, which laid the foundation for modern epithelial physiology.
Prof. Loffing’s research focuses on epithelial transport processes in the kidney, with particular emphasis on the regulation of ion channels and transporters and their role in maintaining salt and water balance. His work has contributed to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying blood pressure regulation and related disorders.
With this distinction, Prof. Johannes Loffing is invited to present his research at the APS’s annual meeting 2026, one of the leading international conferences in physiology.
