Sechseläuten 2025: Honoring Hedwig Frey
Sechseläuten, Zurich’s traditional spring festival, features a colorful guild parade and the burning of the Böögg, a snowman symbolizing winter—whose quick explosion is said to promise a warm summer. This year, the Gesellschaft zu Fraumünster, one of Zurich’s historic women’s guilds, honored Hedwig Frey, the first Titular Professor of Anatomy at UZH medical faculty and a pioneer for women in medicine.
At the ceremony, Prof. Caroline Maake from the Institute of Anatomy highlighted Hedwig Frey's groundbreaking academic journey.
